NB Training Nights
The training schedule is subject to change, if instructors are not able to
make a meeting. All meetings start at 7:00pm unless otherwise noted. Trainings
are also toned out on the pagers. You are strongly recommended to attend
these meeting to insure you have the required training time. They occur on
the second Wednesday monthly. The ALS training is on the fourth Wednesday.
EMS Conference
TBD
EMT Associations and Organizations
Are you a member of a professional association? You should be. The cost
is small, and the benefits are many. For one thing, they speak on behalf
of all EMTs at important times, such as when the government is considering
legislation that affects how we do our job. They also help you stay on top
of the latest changes in EMS. Consider joining the
National Association of EMTs and
New Hampshire Association of EMTs.
You should also consider augmenting your liability insure to protect
yourself. The town does provide coverage, but for as little as $75 a year
for volunteers, you can have additional coverage. Check out
HPSO.
Qualifications for Reregistration
What do you need to do to renew your NREMT?
What is required in the 2 years of your certification in order to recert
your EMT or First Responder registration and state license? This is a
common question. Even though we try to keep you informed of where you
stand, ultimately, you are the one who has to show your training and
skills are up-to-date. The state requirements are based on the National
Registry requirements. The most important requirement for you as a member
of our squad is your continuing education. How many hours you will need
is based on what level you are certifying at. You can get all the details
on this at the NREMT website. Everyone must
update both the registry and the state license to be able to be an attendant.
The National Registry is only a registry, they let the state know that you meet
a certain level of training. The state is the *only* one who can authorize you
to perform at that level of training. You need a license to practice and you
need to be registered to get a license.
